Traditional sales = How do I close this deal on the product or service that you are providing.
Marketing = Creating awareness of your brand and the experience you have with that brand.
In the same way, we should always market ourselves. With integrity and our clients’ best interest in mind. There are many ways that you can continue to create an experience while being sensitive to the current situation your clients are in now.
The questions you should ask yourself when creating your marketing material and communication is:
Is this about my client or me?
“How does this serve me?” is the wrong message.
It needs to help your clients. The perspective about how you can serve your clients and prospective clients becomes your marketing message. You are a service to them. We are all looking for support and help.
If your message is unclear on what product or service you are selling, then your clients will be disappointed in what they received. It can be even more damaging to your company, compared to you doing nothing at all. Now your clients feel like you took advantage of them and might have lost heir business forever.
Using the correct words today is essential.
Is your product or service explained clearly?
Is the message obvious or do they need to work at understanding that message?
Have you told them what to do clearly?
Make sure you ask yourself these questions when creating your sales material. What kind of response are you getting? Have they contacted you or purchased from you? If you’re not getting leads with your message, you need to reassess or message and/or your target market.
Make sure you have a tracking system that will accurately collect your sales data and a strong sales system in place. Here is just some of the data you should track in order to create your sales messages in the future.
